The Czech Republic became the member of the European research Infrastructure Consortium EU-OPENSCREEN ERIC. EU-OPENSCREEN ERIC – the infrastructure for chemical biology was established by the decision of European Commission on March 20, 2018.
The Czech Republic became the member of the European research Infrastructure Consortium EU-OPENSCREEN ERIC. EU-OPENSCREEN ERIC – the infrastructure for chemical biology was established by the decision of European Commission on March 20, 2018. Its host country is Germany (with the headquarters based in Berlin), and the Czech Republic together with Finland, Latvia, Norway, Poland and Spain belongs to the founder states. The first constituent assembly was in April 12, 2018.
ERIC is a legal framework established by the EU especially for transnational infrastructures to provide them for example a legal capacity recognised in all EU Member States or exemption from VAT.
EU-OPENSCREEN ERIC will offer researchers from Europe and around the world open access to its unique advanced technologies and tools. It will host European Chemical Biology Library of compounds, which will provide to the users mainly for the biological research. EU-OPENSCREEN ERIC will collect and manage all EU-OPENCSREEN generated data and make them publicly accessible. Most of European scientists don’t have access to such advances technologies and compounds collections, which are generally very costly to purchase, operate and maintain. EU-OPENSCREEN consortium will overcome these barriers and financial limitations and it will strengthen the transnational cooperation.
The Czech Republic is represented in EU-OPENSCREEN by research infrastructure CZ-OPENSCREEN, which is hosted by the Institute of Molecular Genetics, AS CR under the leadership of Petr Bartůněk. Three other specialized partner sites of CZ-OPENSCREEN are Palacky University in Olomouc, Masaryk University in Brno and University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague.
CZ-OPENSCREEN: National Infrastructure for Chemical Biology operates the most advanced research infrastructure for basic and applied research in the fields of chemical biology and genetics and provides Open Access to its external users. The main mission of CZ-OPENSCREEN is to identify new molecular probes and to develop new tools for research of chemical compounds, as candidates for the development of new potential therapeutics. CZ-OPENSCREEN is systematically building the library of both commercial chemical compounds as well as originally synthesized in the Czech Republic.
The membership of the Czech Republic in EU-OPENSCREEN ERIC is a significant milestone in the existence of CZ-OPENSCREEN and the international appreciation of long term effort to contribute to the identification and development of new drugs.
The infrastructure CZ-OPENSCREE is currently funded by project provided by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports: Large RDI infrastructures projects (2010-2017), identification code: LM2015063.
